At a gala dinner in Melbourne on 23 October 2007, Banjos was announced as the joint State winner in the Australian Human Resource Institute’s People Management category and then went on to be nominated as one of three National Finalists.

The AHRI Awards for Excellence promote professional standards by recognising individuals and organisations that have achieved business results through sound HR practice. The awards also identify and reward people managers who have contributed to sustainable competitive advantage through leadership and innovation.

Chief Operating Officer David Dilger said he was particularly pleased by the announcement as Banjos had achieved a top 3 National result against tough opposition from other entrants across Australia.

“This is a great achievement for Banjos. Winning an award for people management highlights the quality of work being undertaken by Banjo’s Corporation. We consulted with staff and determined three broad categories for improvement: increased work flexibility, family friendly and putting fun into the workplace. Putting initiatives in these areas in place has lead to higher levels of discretionary effort and engagement amongst our employees.

There is strong correlation between becoming an employer choice and a franchise of choice – the two are inextricably linked. Banjo’s recognizes that it must maintain best practice standards for it to attract and retain the best talent.

It is fantastic to receive the acknowledgement that our human resource practices have been benchmarked and are among the best in the Nation,” said Mr Dilger.
