Banjo's Franchising In Australia Franchisee Profiles Margate, Tasmania

Margate loves its bakery

Debra McCulloch owned and operated the Margate Bakery as an independent bakery, when she saw a great opportunity to convert it into a Banjo's. Together with husband Greg McCulloch, she became a Banjo's franchisee and converted the existing business into a thriving Banjo's store. It was the right decision - the bakery is now selling more than ever before.

With the added workload of a blueberry farm to tend to, Debra and Greg have their hands full making sure their store maintains the high standards of cleanliness, product quality and customer service that they set right from the start. Still, the effort has been worthwhile: Debra is proud to be contributing to her local community.

"I am a resident of Margate, and it's fantastic to be able to employ locals while we support, and are supported by the community. Banjo's also provides us with valuable training opportunities that benefit every one of our employees."

As store manager, Debra decided early on that she would listen to her customers, and continue to provide them with their favourites. She also decided to retain the old bakery's staff, including the production manager, who has now been working with Debra for over 10 years.

The result? The bakery's profits have grown since the change to Banjo's, and the locals are obviously behind the venture. Debra's is thrilled that her dedication has paid off: "Banjo's has become a part of the Margate community".
